Match Made is two works styled together from the same project. The larger piece was created with custom limewash paints painted on raw terracotta tiles. This piece highlights antiquity and architectural details that add an unexpected dynamic to wall art. The smaller piece is a highly sculptural work with a soft and neutral composition. This piece is also visually dynamic and walks the line of sculpture and painting. Together, the natural sculptural forms of the smaller piece juxtaposed against the structure and rigidity of the large tiled piece creates a visual union between the two artworks.
It was a privilege working alongside April Tomlin Interiors for these two pieces. Both of these pieces were designed to layer with other art within the project, and while it was not each other, we are able to see a beautiful theme start to build between spaces. We customized the colorway using limewash paints from Portola Paints which was a very unique paint medium to work with. With countless layering paired with such a unique medium, it allowed for the appearance of aged tiling which created such a rich and beautiful detail. The natural sculptural forms of the smaller piece and soft color palette juxtaposed against the structure and rigidity of the large tiled piece creates a striking harmony between the two.
